Ruben Tan has severe brain damage after constantly hitting himself whenever he faces problems in his programming projects, and thus have a weird outlook on life which prevents him from being trapped in the surface of lies.

A sad sad news today started with an SMS from an old friend of mine that read:

12/3 DAP CEC against appointment of Perak PAS secretary as MB, its 18 assemblymen to stay away from swearing-in ceremony.

The moment I received this SMS, although I knew there would be trouble brewing in Perak, I didn’t expect DAP to commit political suicide with this move. I am deeply saddened. Why?

1. The Opposition was given the public’s mandate because we believed they could work together

Reminds me of a story long time ago about a farmer teaching his sons to unite by showing them how a bunch of chopsticks wouldn’t break if tied together as one. To put it in modern porno-flooded-internet terms, a threesome is always more exciting that conventional coupling. Okay now’s a good time to tell your children never to view my blog again.

But the point stands. The greatest weakness of the opposition basically lies in the polar political stance between PAS and DAP. DAP fights for a secular government, while PAS basically wishes to have a more religious one. The fact that they could work together has to be attributed (in my oh-so-humble opinion) to the common enemy they share, which is the BN. Good, they made it work this time, and the public agreed.

Why throw it away? C’mon, having a PAS member as a MB isn’t that scary. Firstly, he’s chosen by the Sultan. Secondly, DAP still holds a majority in the state. Thirdly, if PAS is smart, they wouldn’t commit political suicide by enforcing Islamic rules to the entire state. So what’s there to fear? Work together god-damnit!

2. This fiasco will be spun by the BN to sway voters away from the coalition

The opposition called itself as the Barisan Rakyat, and that is a strong word and a seemingly strong coalition. Heck, the fact that PAS and DAP can work together is already a good sign. The rakyat voted for them because they saw them as a much better alternative to the corrupted and arrogant BN. Why crumble now? Given, the other states are doing extremely well, especially Penang. Selangor’s MB has also been decided, so that’s another one down. Perak, please pull yourself together! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and you’re gonna waste it like that?

3. Any fallout will be exaggerated and spun in the primary media controlled by the BN

The BN has not been totally defeated yet! They still control the media, and with that they can corrupt the minds of the simple rakyat. How? By harping on the failures of the opposition and keeping away from mentioning their merits. Make the stupid rakyat who still believe everything the papers say think the opposition is falling apart when it isn’t.

Come on, do you guys need any more reasons? Work together lar! Go to a mamak stall, order some teh tarik, sit down and chill out. If PAS want to cut your foreskin and convert you to Islam, then that’s something worth resisting. An MB by comparison isn’t that big of a threat is it? It’s not like the moment he sits down on that seat your foreskin will disappear and suddenly you’ll lose the taste for bah kut teh? Work together lar!
