Ruben Tan has severe brain damage after constantly hitting himself whenever he faces problems in his programming projects, and thus have a weird outlook on life which prevents him from being trapped in the surface of lies.

Just today I read a piece of news in The Shit… I mean, The Star that sent my blood boiling. Here’s the fucked up piece of news:

KUALA LUMPUR: A seminar on Syariah Law review wants non-Muslims found committing khalwat (close proximity) with Muslims to also be held liable.

This was among the proposals made at the two-day seminar organised by the Islamic Institute of Understanding Malaysia (Ikim) and the Syariah Judiciary Department Malaysia.

Syariah Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Mohd Asri Abdullah said the seminar had proposed that non-Muslims committing khalwat with Muslims should also be sentenced accordingly, but in the civil courts.

“We don’t have the jurisdiction to sentence non-Muslims committing khalwat with Muslims,” he told reporters after closing the seminar on behalf of department director-general Datuk Ibrahim Lembut at Ikim here today.

“The Muslims can be sentenced in Syariah courts, and the non-Muslim partners can probably be sentenced in the civil courts, to be fair to both parties.” - READ THE REST

Whoa. Hold on a second. Didn’t the Prime Minister, or was it Najib that said our country is as secular as ever? Didn’t BN just said that we should not vote for PAS because they will turn Malaysia into an Islamic country complete with Islamic laws and so forth?

And after all that hoo-ha, suddenly Non-Muslims are to be prosecuted for being close to Muslims. Right, so much for secularism. This is where the denial of the BN 2/3 majority works wonders. In order for this rule to be passed, an amendment has to be made in the constitution to allow the Syariah Court such powers. But WAIT! There’s PAS in the opposition! Will they support this movement? BN after all, only needs 8 more votes to make it to 2/3 majority.

Here’s what I predict will happen. Somewhere down the line, BN will propose an Islamic amendment that will clearly irk all non-muslims but will sound appetizing to PAS. And they will get PAS to agree to it, and if PAS does, this will probably send DAP into furious fits and probably splinter the Pakatan Rakyat.

Dirty eh? Well, BN plays dirty tricks, so you can’t exactly expect them to put up a good, clean debate on anything. They’re only good at rigging polls and flinging d-d-d-d-d-d-d-dirt and st-st-st-st-st-stuttering when talking to international media.

  1. Wasn’t that article completely revolting? The job you did of framing it in political terms is brilliant, but even if BN wasn’t thinking politically, it shows how little regard they really have for other races.

Multiracial country, indeed - what they’re doing is driving a wedge between Muslims and non-Muslims. The issues of racism and intolerance of religion have always been propagated by the government, not the rakyat.

  2. Well more challenges to the new opposition state governments and the alliance.

Divide and conquer - BN seems to love this game passed down to them by the British colonists.
