It happened in a strange house. The top floors were old, worn and mostly exposed living quarters, while the ground floor was a convenience store. I was on the top floor and could see three shady looking characters approaching the store. Not thinking much about their motives, my dad asked me to bring him something and I went downstairs to fetch it.
When I got downstairs, the three guys reached the building and grabbed several fire extinguishers. Then they sprayed the windows with it, fogging them up. I went into panic mode and started scurrying around for weapons. At one point I grabbed an aerosol can, thinking of making a mini flamethrower, but decided against it.
I found the kitchenware section and immediately grabbed a 10-inch cutting knife on my right and grabbed a small hand shovel as well as a shorter knife on my left as backup, in case I lose my main weapon. It was then that one of the guy burst into the store.
He wore a green jacket and had dishevelled shoulder length hair, dirty and unwashed. He was surprised that I was putting up a fight, and upon seeing the “weapons” in my hands he drew out his own weapon, snarling “Sleeve, you know what it is? Sleeve!”
I steadied myself, and lurched at the guy, knife head leading. The man was obviously an experienced fighter, and before I knew it he slashed my left arm a couple of times, leaving shallow but vicious cuts upon the back of my hand.
I knew that I had to end it fast before the other two guys outside walked in. I threw the hand shovel on my left hand towards the guy, and when he was busy dodging it I charged forward with my left arm leading, sacrificing it for an opening.
And the plan worked.
He added two more slashes to my left, but before he could recover I drove the knife on my right into his chest. It didn’t go in deeply, but I knew at that moment that I’ve got him. A few grapples later and he ended face down on the ground struggling, with me riding on top. I then finished him off with a couple stabs in his back, holding him down until he stopped moving.
And that was when I woke up. It was just a dream.
But I can’t believe it - I actually killed somebody in my dreams. Granted, it was self protection, but I never knew I could have such vivid experiences in a dream. I even woke up feeling a slight tingle on the back of my left hand, where I suffered several slashes from the man’s sleeve knife/switchblade.
